Tuesday night, I had the opportunity to attend the second Ahead of the Fashion Accelerator event in San Francisco. I need to mention that this whole trip to SF and event registrations were done by Bulut without me knowing about it. It was a two-day perfect get-away for me ;) Before I digress, it was a well-attended and successful event. Early stage companies in fashion and
related industries presented their ventures in only two minutes to a panel of business
people and a crowd including investors,
entrepreneurs, fashion designers, models, bloggers, media members and fashionistas.
Hap Klopp, founder of The North Face, was the guest speaker. Panel included a group of accomplished professionals; Enrico Beltramini, who was an executive with Gucci; Ken Ansin, former owner L.B. Evans and Cole Haan Shoe Companies; Paul Weiss, with experience
growing a range of emerging companies; Barry Gilbert, former CEO of
Smith & Hawken and former president of the Sharper Image; Joan
Barnes, founder of Gymboree; and Kent Deverell, CEO of Fluid.
Entrepreneurs got very useful feedback to their pitches.
Boutine.com and
Gryphon Design are the most promising ones among the others. Boutine is an e-commerce site, which lets the users create their own boutiques with the emerging designers' products and give commission over the item they sell through their boutique. I know some web sites and gaming applications that try to provide similar approach, but it always boils down to "who executes best?". Gryphon design has this genius idea to create customized children books. And out of three designers and among all presenters Wen Guo from
Boditecture took the first place. Like one of the panelists said "It is very difficult to create one costume, yet she managed to put two together in one".
BlacMéra , winner of the first event, had a breathtaking runway show. I will talk about these shows in detail in upcoming posts.
I had the chance to talk to all presenters and some of the amazing people in the audience. I have met two glamorous women from
SF Fashion + Tech, Mika and Adelle. They have covered important news about fashion and tech in San Francisco, have been organizing frequent events and interviewing entrepreneurs.

Salı akşamı, San Francisco'da ikincisi düzenlenen Moda ve Teknoloji Sektörünü hızlandırma toplantısına katılma fırsatı buldum. Tüm ayarlamaların, SF'ye yolculuk ve panel kayıtlarının, bana sürpriz olarak Bulut tarafından yapıldığını yazmadan geçemeyeceğim. Benim için mükemmel 2 günlük bir kaçamak oldu ;) Konuyu dağıtmadan devam edeyim. Kalabalık ve başarılı bir organizasyondu. Moda sektöründe yerini almaya hazırlanan şirketler, işadamı ve işkadınlarından oluşan bir panel ve yatırımcı, girişimci, moda tasarımcıları, model, blog yazarı, medya mensupları ve moda severlerin bulunduğu dinleyicilere sadece 2 dakikada girişimlerini sundular.
The North Face'in kurucusu Hap Klopp misafir konuşmacı idi. Panelde ise eski Gucci yöneticilerinden Enrico Beltramini, L.B. Girişimciler sunumlarına gerçekten önemli ve yararlı yorumlar aldılar.
Boutine.com ve
Gryphon Design içlerinde en umut verici olanlardı. Boutine.com kullanıcılara kendi butiklerini yaratmalarını sağlayan, ulaşılması zor ve yeni gelişmekte olan moda tasarımcılarının ürünlerini butiklerine ekleyip, satılan ürünler üzerinden komisyon veren bir e-ticaret sitesi. Bu yaklaşımı geliştirmeye çalışan web siteleri ve oyun uygulamaları biliyorum ama herzamanki gibi iş "kim daha hızlı ve iyi uyguluyor"da bitiyor. Gryphon Design dahiyane bir fikir ile kişiye özel uyarlama çocuk kitapları yaratmayı planlıyor. Üç moda tasarımcısı ve tüm girişimciler arasından kazanan
Boditecture ile Wen Guo oldu. Panelistlerden birinin söylediği gibi bir kostümü tasarlamak zorken, Wen ikisini birde birleştirmeyi başarmış.
BlacMéra, ilk toplantının birincisi, nefes kesici bir defile düzenledi. Bu defileler hakkında daha sonraki yazılarımda detaylı bahsedeceğim.
Tüm girişimcilerle ve katılımcılardan bazı harika insanlarla konuşma fırsatı buldum.
SF Fashion + Tech'ten iki göz alıcı kadınla, Mika ve Adelle, ile tanıştım. Moda ve teknoloji alanında önemli haberleri yakalıyorlar, sık sık toplantılar düzenleyip, girişimcilerle röportajlar yapıyorlar.
