EAT, MY CHANEL BOY, EAT

Chanel 8" Stingray Boy Bag

In fact this was mostly led by my loving husband as a company acquisition gift and I assure you that show-off is not my intention at all. However, some worldly possessions open most of the doors for you. Ironically, it is the truth. Don't get me wrong, I looooove it. I watch my bag as it is a piece of art. The point is I get giggly, and somewhat annoyed as a reaction to the sudden attentions.

Here is this Turkish folk tail from Nasreddin Hodja:

The Hodja was invited to a banquet. Not wanting to be pretentious, he wore his everyday clothes, only to discover that everyone ignored him, including the host. So he went back home and put on his fanciest coat, and then returned to the banquet. Now he was greeted cordially by everyone and invited to sit down and eat and drink. When the soup was served to him he dunked the sleeve of his coat into the bowl and said, "Eat, my coat, eat!". The startled host asked the Hodja to explain his strange behavior. "When I arrived here wearing my other clothes," explained the Hodja, "no one offered me anything to eat or drink. But when I returned wearing this fine coat, I was immediately offered the best of everything, so I can only assume that it was the coat and not myself who was invited to your banquet."

Hoca her ikram edilen şey önüne konduğunda, kürkünü yakasından özenle tutup, “ye kürküm ye” diyormuş.
- “Hocam, bu nasıl iş, hiç kürk yemek yer mi?” dediklerinde;
- “Ne yapalım, davet sahibi bunları kürküme ikram ediyor. Sonradan kürkümle aramda bir sorun çıkmasın diye ben de kürkümü uyarıyorum,” demiş.

Things You Wouldn’t Know...

Our HR Manager asked me to write something personal about me that they wouldn't know otherwise. Here it goes:

Native of Black Sea, Turkey, where you can get the most delicious fish in the world. We used to have fish even at breakfast. That region is always rainy, but it never bothered me (years later, named my daughter “Yağmur”, rain in Turkish).

I went to college in Ankara, where I met my husband, then moved to Istanbul to start my career. Here is my world journey after Istanbul:
  • Moved to Boston in late 2001
  • Moved back to Istanbul in mid-2006
  • Moved to LA in late 2009
I think we love to be nomads like our ancestors.

I have a daughter, Yağmur  (Rain),7, and a son, Doğa (Nature), 3.

I found dance as the best way to express myself. I have performed with a semi-professional dance company for about 5 years, in US (Boston, Washington DC, New York, Rhode Island) and in Turkey, mostly modernized Eastern European, Balkan, and Turkish dances. Now, I am more into Flamenco.

As an adventurous family, we like to try various sports and outdoor activities; skiing, sailing, fishing, horseback riding, wind surfing, rafting…
My fun activities include fashion related blogging and instagramming :)

Life, kids and food lover :)

I am not sure if I should tell this since that would be a dangerously valuable information for my manager :). If anyone encourages me, I just cannot let it go and try to do the most challenging things. We have a perfect idiom for this kind of behavior for which I do not know what the exact translation is, maybe get carried away.. It is written in my high school senior yearbook that I jumped from the classroom window because everyone did know that I would do it when they say “you can do it!”. I could barely walk for two months, afterwards.

To me, Istanbul is the most beautiful city in the world. New York comes right after..

My life goal is to be remembered as a good, humble and wise person, and to raise my kids as happy, successful individuals.

WHITE/BLUE FLORAL

Siwy skinny tie-dye floral jeans
Leifsdottir one-puffed-arm floral blouse
NR-39 sandals

Wowww, it's been a month now. I am back full of energy ;) Had a refreshing, relaxing summer, developed some business ideas, changed slightly my way of thinking, in a positive way.

Here I am, at my daughter's early birthday party, Ünye, with white over blue/blue over white florals.

***

Tam bir ay olmuş! Enerji dolu döndüm ;) Bu yaz tazelendim, rahatladım, iş fikirleri geliştirdim, ve en önemlisi birazcık bakış açımı değiştirdim, pozitif yönde.

İşte Ünye'de kızımın erken kutlanan doğumgünü partisinde, beyaz üzerine mavi/mavi üzerine beyaz çiçeklilerle ben ;)

WHITE PENCIL SKIRT

Enjoying the wonderful summer in Ünye. Here are some fun moments on the way to yummdelicious food.. I hope you, too, are having a beautiful time out there.

This skirt, from Yargici, is 13 years old. Bought it right after my college graduation before diving into corporate life. And the shirt, from Mavi, is donated by my brother :) Michael Kors sandals. Chloe sunglasses, David Yurman bracelet, both belong to mom :(, I am a lucky daughter, am I not? ;)

***
