Night Shooting

I was in Ünye, my hometown, for a couple of days last week. My brother, Asım, tried some night shooting on me :) Some came out good, and I wanted to share those with you.

I chose the belt long enough to wear it looped or twisted. I particularly like a brown leather belt over a feminine frock.

Geçtiğimiz hafta birkaç günlüğüne Ünye'deydim. Asım, kardeşim, gece sokak lambaları eşliğinde fotoğraf çekimleri denedi. Bazıları gerçekten güzel oldu.

Kemerimi, taktıktan sonra kalan kısmını bağlayabilmek için yeterince uzun seçmiştim. Kahverengi deri kemeri en çok elbiselerin üzerinde seviyorum.

Revolutionary Road

We all want to live or already live on the revolutionary road as in the recent Hollywood production. Most of us do not have the luxury to do what we want to do, but we can start with little yet courageous changes. It is just a matter of self confidence. Pınar, I believe in you ;) All of us need to start thinking..

The atmosphere and the people in our college put this precious feeling into our blood. See the tremendous graffiti ("DEVRİM" means REVOLUTION) on the stairs of the sports stadium. Painted in 70's.. After 40 years university students repainted it.

There is a tradition that ODTÜ(METU) students write "Devrim" on grass with candles on the third day of spring fest.

Hepimiz filmdeki gibi devrim yolunda yaşamak istiyor ya da zaten yaşıyoruz. Çoğumuzun istediğimizi yapacak lüksü olmasa da küçük ama cesur adımlarla başlayabiliriz. Özgüven en büyük hazinemiz. Pınarım sana güveniyorum ;) Hepimizin düşünmeye başlaması gerekiyor..

Üniversite atmosferimiz ve üniversiteyi yaşayanlar bu özel hissi yerleştirdi içimize. Stadyumda yazılı olan kocaman DEVRİM yazısını bilmeyen yoktur sanırım. 70'lerde boyanan bu yazı, yaklaşık kırk yıl sonra yine öğrenciler tarafından yeniden boyandı.

Her yıl ODTÜ bahar şenliğinin 3. günü stadyumda mumlar ile yazılır DEVRİM aşağıdaki resimde olduğu gibi..

The Old-Fashioned Eyeglasses

Would you believe if I tell you that I had been searching for this for about a year? Yes, that's true;) I even checked the closets of all my senior relatives with the hope to find a vintage one.

I was almost going to give up before I went to Elite Optik in Nişantaşı. I went there to ask a Ray Ban Wayfarer with optical lenses, and he showed me all retro or nerdy ( ;) ) glasses I was looking for for a while.

Did you notice the little gold hands on the frame?

Yaklaşık bir yıldır bu gözlükleri aradığımı söyleseydim bana inanır mıydınız? Evet gerçekten doğru ;) Hatta bütün yaşça büyük akrabalarımın dolaplarını bile karıştırdım, benzersiz bir tane bulabilirim ümidi ile.

Artık vazgeçmek üzereydim. Nişantaşı'ndaki Elite Optik'e, son çare olarak, Ray Ban wayfarer'a optik cam taktırmak üzere gittim. Neden daha önce gelmediniz dediler ve uzun zamandır aradığım retro gözlük seçeneklerini çıkardılar.

Stylish in Dentistry

Buket, my sister, and her former roommate Nevra opened a dental polyclinic in Gebze last week. They did a perfect job with handling everything, founding a company, renovating the apartment, advertising, etc. I believe these young, talented, ambitious, restless women will be a great hit in dentistry. Congratulations to both!

And it seems like her aunt is Yagmur's role model already. Don't you think so?

I wanted to use this unusual place for some photo shooting. This skirt with shoulder straps is soo comfy and different as in all Derishow designs. The high waist, butterflies on the left strap, pleats in front and the asymmetric pocket on the back.. And I like my boots with this hemline.

The leather jacket is my dad's gift. We headed to the store to shop for my mom, ended up getting three jackets, one for mom, one for me and one for my sister :)

Canım kardeşim Buket ve daha önceden ev arkadaşlığı yaptığı arkadaşı Nevra geçtiğimiz hafta Gebze'de ağız ve diş sağlığı polikliniği açtılar. Bu polikliniğin açılışında harika bir iş çıkardılar. Şirketi açmak, daireyi baştan yaptırmak, reklam yapmak, vs. Tüm kalbimle bu iki yetenekli, hırslı, kıpır kıpır insanın diş hekimliğinde çok iyi yer edineceklerine inanıyorum. İkisine de yeniden çok tebrikler!

Yağmur şimdiden teyzesini rol model olarak seçmiş bile, öyle değil mi?

Tabi bu güzel kliniği bulmuşken, fotoğraf çekmeden duramadım ;) Bu askılı etek çok rahat ve her Derishow dizaynı gibi değişik. Yüksek beli, sol askısındaki kelebekleri, öndeki pliler ve asimetrik arka cep.. Ve botlarımı bu etek boyu ile çok beğeniyorum.

Deri ceket babacığımın hediyesi. Annem için girmiştik mağazaya, üç ceket alıp çıktık, biri anneme, biri bana, diğeri de kardeşime :)

That was my second day in Ankara. We were invited to Özlem and Mete's place for dinner. Özlem cooked amazing Indian food; samosas, tomato chutney, saag (palak) paneer, chicken tikka masala, and saffron rice pilaf. Orange and poppy seed cake with orange sauce was a perfect ending to the dinner.

That night and the following day, Özlem, Beril and I tried some blogger photo shooting :) Here are some of them:

Best Friends in Ankara

I am in Ankara, where I went to College, for a few days. I had a great time with my best friends yesterday. I still insist that the cafes in Ankara are always the best. So, we were at Big Chefs Cafe for almost four hours. Love the black net curtain in the bathrooms. I have to share what we had during our sooo missed, wonderful old friends' chat.

The pumpkin cheecake was fabulous, you have to try it if you have a chance to visit. And the strawberry waffle with vanilla ice cream, hmmmm, delicious!

Then we gathered at QuickChina, where I had the best Chinese and Thai food in Turkey. Sake Sangria was a different taste, and worth a try ;)

Ankara'dayım, üniversite yıllarımın geçtiği şehir, en yakın arkadaşlıklar.. Ankara'daki kafelerin herzaman diğerlerinden daha güzel, servis kalitesinin daha iyi olduğunu savunmaya devam edeceğim. BigChefs Cafe'de yaklaşık 4 saat geçirdik. İç tasarım ve özellikle tuvaletlerdeki siyah tül perdeler harikaydı. Vee çok özlediğimiz eski arkadaş sohbetimiz sırasında, tattığımız nefis tatlıları sizinle paylaşmalıyım.

Bal kabağı soslu cheesecake tek kelime ile enfesti. Eğer yolunuz düşerse mutlaka denemenizi tavsiye ederim. Çilekli, vanilyalı dondurmalı waffle ise çok hafif ve leziz.

Akşam ise Türkiye'de en güzel çin yemeğimi yemiş oldum. QuickChina. Sake Sangria değişik bir karışım, denemeye değer.

The Painting - Balmain or Boleyn Girl?

My beautiful, very talented, dearest friend Riiacığım said she painted this one thinking about me as an inspiration. Hence, this is very precious for me. I love it at first glance.The motion all around the chaotic hair and the dress defines me in an artistic way ;)

Today, I composed two options to dress her up. I, of course, would choose the first one but I feel she has some romantic, ethereal side as well as her anarchist look. That's why I also want to imagine her as a Boleyn girl in the sixteenth century. And the Balmain girl represents the rebellious soul.

That jacket and the boots are to die for... Polyvore is a great site to create your own look. It is fun to play with it.

Benim çok güzel, yetenekli ve özel arkadaşım Riiacığım bu resmi beni düşünerek yaptığını söylemişti. Benim için çok önemli bir parça. İlk gördüğümde bayılmıştım zaten benimle ilgili olan kısmını söylemeden önce. Kızın özellikle karışık saçlarındaki ve kıyafetindeki hareket beni artistik bir şekilde anlatıyor ;)

Bugün onu giyindirmek için iki ayrı kompozisyon oluşturdum. Tabiki ilki benim tercihimdir fakat anarşist görünüşünün yanında onda hissettiğim romantik ve ruhani taraf, onu aynı zamanda 16. yüzyılda bir Boleyn kızı gibi hayal ettirtti bana. Balmain kızı ise isyankar ruhunu simgeliyor.

Ceket ve bağcıklı botlar harika, muhteşem... Polyvore kendinize göre görünüş yaratmak için çok güzel ve eğlenceli bir site.

Fall 08 Galata Fashion Week

I know this is not new to some of you. I posted this one to facebook before. Thought it should be here as well. These shots are from Galata Fashion Week, in Akaretler, Istanbul.

My high waisted pleated cropped pants and motorcycle coton jacket with tuxedo-like touches. Love the fabric and slouchy cut of the pants.

Btw, I desperately need to get Lula magazine. The issue #8 is already out.

Buradaki bazı fotoğrafları gördüğünüzü biliyorum ama bloğa da koymadan edemedim. Akaretler'deki Galata Moda (Sonbahar/Kış 08) haftasından birkaç kesit.

Yüksek belli plili pantalonum ve yer yer simokin kesimleri olan koton motosikletçi ceketim. Pantalonun kumaşı ve rahat kesimine bayılıyorum.

Bu arada bir Lula magazin sayısını elime geçirebilmeyi çooook istiyorum. Sayı 8'i çıkarmışlar bile.

Last Night was all about Oscars

Here is my favorite six:

Taraji P. Henson looked sooo stunning in her Roberto Cavalli gown. Butterycream tiered gown is I think flawless. And the necklace is the statement.

Sarah Jessica Parker chose a princess, ballerina look, sweetheart neckline Christian Dior haute couture gown, which shows her great shape. Doesn't it feel like in the movie Enchanted, a twenty first century New York princess? She called the color "barely mint, or seafoam". I love her, she was great as always.

Freida Pinto, from Slumdog Millionaire, wore a John Galliano asymmetrical dress in Indian-inspired color. You cannot really feel the beauty of it here, but it has a gorgeous back again asymmetrical. I think this dress deserved a better updo.

And here she comes, another princess on the red carpet, Natalie Portman. In Rodarte draped orchid strapless dress. With the punk-rock purple eye shadow, she was fabulous.

No wonder she is a supermodel! Heidi Klum wore a red origami type dress, RM by Roland Mouret, to support women's heart health. Despite the fact that I'd prefer fairy tale ball type gowns for Oscars, I love this strong, elegant, modern graphical shape dress.

Miley Cyrus was in Zuhair Murad's shimmery haute couture gown with the beaded petals. There was something wrong with her posture, though.

By the way, two of my favorite actresses got the Best Actress (Kate Winslet, The Reader) and Best Supporting Actress (Penelope Cruz, Vicky Cristina Barcelona) Oscars. Unfortunately, I did not feel their natural beauty in the gowns they chose.

Taraji P. Henson Roberto Cavalli tuvaletinin içinde nefes kesici görünüyordu. Kat kat olan krem rengi elbise omuzdan kuyruğa kadar kusursuzdu. Ve son noktayı koyan ise gerdanlığı idi.

Christian Dior imzalı olan tuvalet bana Manhattan'da Sihir filmini hatırlattı. 21. yüzyıl New York prensesi, SJP hep öyle kalmaya devam edecek. Kendisi elbisenin renginin beeelki naneye ya da deniz köpüğüne benzettiğini söyledi. Naneden neyi kastettiğini anlayamadığım için ikincisini seçiyorum :)

Supermodel olduğuna hiç şüphe yok tabiki! Heidi Klum yine kadın kalp sağlığıni desteklemek için kırmızı giyinmişti. Bana origami sanatını hatırlatan bu elbise Roland Mouret imzalı. Her ne kadar Oscar törenlerinde peri masallarındaki balo kıyafetlerini görmek istesem de bu elbiseye de bayıldım.

Miley Cyrus, her yanı boncuklarla işlenmiş yaprak yaprak etekleriyle göz kamaştıran Zuhair Murad imzalı elbisesi ile kırmızı halıda yürüdü. Elbise bence harikaydı ama Miley'nin duruşu, sanırım omuzlarının duruşu göze hoş görünmüyordu.

Bu arada, iki favori adayım hakettikleri gibi ödüllerini aldılar yalnız beklediğim gibi değildi kıyafetleri :( En iyi kadın oyuncu: Kate Winslet, The Reader. En iyi yardımcı kadın oyuncu: Penelope Cruz, Barselona Barselona.

The Dress and The Girls

Oh look at this pose! When I first got this dress, she fell in love with it. Couldn't wait a moment to try it on :) And I think she does great with making people believe that dress is actually is hers.

Whenever I wear this tiered dress, something is pushing me to dance flamenco, it makes me feel so like a gypsy. The ruffles on the shoulders and most of all, the birds all around the dress make it more special. I will talk about the antique silver belt in another post.

Şu poza bir bakar mısınız? Bu elbiseyi ilk aldığım anda Yağmur hayran kaldı ve denemek için bir an bile beklemeye dayanamadı :) Fotoğrafa bakanları da kendi elbisesi olduğuna inandırmakta da çok başarılı olduğunu düşünüyoruz, ne dersiniz?

Etekleri kat kat olan elbisemi her giyindiğimde içimden birşeyler flamenko yapmam için dürtüyor. Çingene, hür ve çok farklı hissediyorum... Elbisenin omuzlarındaki volanlar ve her yanına dağılmış kuş desenleri çok daha özel yapıyor onu benim için. Antika gümüş kemerden daha sonraki yazılarda bahsedeceğim.
